| Added a search bar to the Settings UI to help you quickly find specific options. Also refreshed and modernised the overall appearance of the Settings interface. | |
Area load variance checks have been significantly improved:
|
|
| Similar to v7.2.2, more minor solver issues were fixed. These errors were stopping the solver from completing without any useful message returned to the user. Now returning more useful messages about why particular errors are occurring. | |
| When multiple labels overlap in the main renderer, only one is shown. This setting is enabled by default and can be toggled via Settings > View > Hide labels when they clash. | |
| Improved sharpness of the main renderer graphics on devices using display scaling levels other than 100%. | |
| Modernised the appearance of the startup launcher. | |
| Modernised the appearance of datasheets and added a button to quickly expand or collapse their width. | |
| When creating area loads and plates with the mouse, you must now double-click the first node. A message bar at the top of the page will guide you through this action. | |
| A message bar now appears at the top of the page when part of the structure is hidden, reminding you of the current view state. |
| Open as New Model - Highlight part of your model and launch it into a new S3D model window. Simply select part of your model, right click and choose Open as New Model - carrying with it all materials, sections, geometry, loads and load combinations. | |

| The tables in the dynamic frequency results are now sortable and copyable (to export to spreadsheets). | |
| Renamed Section or Plate "Reduction Factors" to "Modification Factors" since they can also be used to increase stiffness rather than just decrease them. | |
| It is no longer possible to create rigid diaphragms that are not in the horizontal plane. | |
| Fixed minor solver issues which were stopping the solver from completing without any useful message returned to the user. Now returning more useful messages about why particular errors are occurring. |
| Added quick up/down buttons next to the top-left dropdown in Section Builder to easily cycle through your sections. | |
| The Export All Tables to XLSX option now supports exporting only the min/max columns. | |
| Modernised the appearance of the left-menu results buttons in Solve Mode to align with the v7.2.0 visual style used for the main buttons. | |
| Enhanced the graphical symbols for prestress and thermal loads, and improved their tooltips to clarify how these loads act. | |
| Improved the accuracy of displacement span-ratio results when RS analysis is used. | |
| Fixed several issues affecting the member alignment tool. | |
| Corrected an issue where the results legend failed to detect peak RS analysis values at discontinuities. A related issue affecting the summary report was also fixed. | |
| Addressed several UI synchronisation problems within the single-member analysis function. | |
| Implemented various fixes for the new summary report introduced in v7.2.0. | |

| Resolved an issue where some results for semi-rigid members were missing when RS analysis was used on structures with offsets or rigid links. | |
| Fixed an issue where prestress and thermal loads may have been incorrectly applied to cable members. Users will be alerted when opening older files that meet the affected conditions. We recommend reviewing the loads in these models. The improved graphical symbols should now help reduce confusion regarding load directions. |
| Load Combination Pattern Generator. The existing Auto-Generate Load Combinations has been replaced with a Pattern Generator that guides you through designing and generating load combinations based on your defined patterns. Access it via LOAD COMBINATIONS > Load Combos > Load Combination Generator in the left-hand menu. To learn how it works, see our documentation or the Load Generator Quick Design. | |
| Loads Groups & Load Cases Interface. Access it via LOAD COMBINATIONS > Load Groups in the left-hand menu which allows you to set up load groups and load cases after selecting a design code. | |

| You can now disable non-linear effects of individual members. Simply change the "Disable Non-Linear Effects" property to "Yes" for an individual member. This is useful for bracing members where non-linear effects can somtimes produce spurious results. | |
The summary report has been vastly improved:
|
|
| Improved/modernised appearance of main left-menu and top Model-Solve-Design buttons. | |
| The "Exclude Load Combinations" interface has been refreshed to better handle a large amount of load combinations. | |
| The main envelopes now ignore load groups and load cases by default in newly created models. Previously, they were not ignored. This behaviour can be adjusted in Settings > Solver > Envelopes. | |
| An unlimited number of custom envelopes can now be defined (previously limited to 10). | |
| When merging nodes through the right-click menu or the operations toolbox, you can now control the tolerance. | |
| You can now merge nodes via Edit > Nodes > Merge Close Nodes. | |
| The DXF import function now includes a setting for nodal-coordinate precision, which can help clean up nodal coordinates on import. | |
| Added a field in the pen-tool options to control the section ID of members created using the pen tool. | |
| When using the pen tool, a bubble now appears around a snappable point when it can be used. | |
| When using the pen tool, gridlines can now be used as snap points. | |
| Level lines are now dashed to distinguish them from gridlines. Other minor appearance improvements have been made to gridlines and elevations, including thicker lines and more consistent colouring. | |
| Left- or right-clicking gridlines or elevations now opens their right-click menu. They can also no longer be multi-selected, as this was not meaningful behaviour. | |
| Improved line support reaction labels by displaying only one label per support to avoid duplicates. | |
| Adjusted the fixity dots in the graphics so they are no more than 0.25 m from the ends of members. | |
| Top Menu > Edit > Loads > Assign Load Cases has been replaced by Edit > Loads > Manage Groups & Cases. | |
| Top Menu > Edit > Loads > Manage Load Groups has been replaced by Edit > Loads > Manage Groups & Cases. | |

| Fixed issue related to the precision of results when settlements are used (similar to fix rolled out in v6.2.8). | |
| Minor boost to solver speed on large models as reactions are now calculated more efficiently. | |
| Added an option to add notional loads for all 4 directions at once. | |
| Notional loads are now being drawn as separate components in the graphics. |
| New UI design for the right sidebar which now uses the entire height of the screen. The buttons that were in the previous right sidebar are now shifted to the top-right of screen and they are pinnable. The scale slider is now collapsed and will expand on hover. | |
New Operations Toolbox:
|
|
| Added new keyboard shortcuts to toggle visibility of nodes (SHIFT + N), members (SHIFT + M), plates (SHIFT + P), meshed plates (SHIFT + H), loads (SHIFT + L), supports (SHIFT + S), equivalent area loads (SHIFT + E) and gridlines (SHIFT + G). | |
| Added a Copy Loads option to the right-click menu. This allows you to duplicate existing loads by a chosen factor and assign them to a new load group. | |
| Loads can now be colored by load case. This setting is available in Visibility Settings (eye icon in right bar) > Loads > Color By. Previously, loads could only be colored by type (default) or by load group. | |
| The Member Extend tool can now extend a member to a node located anywhere in 3D space. The member is extended along its path to the plane orthogonal to the member that contains the node. Previously, it could only extend to another member to form an intersection. | |
| Added small up/down buttons next to the load combination selector in the results UI to quickly switch between load combinations. | |
| Added an icon in the load combination selector dropdown to indicate whether each combination has been downloaded and is ready for viewing. | |
| Line support reactions can now be averaged (point average or distributed average). This can be configured in the settings under the red Reactions button after solving. | |
| Added a new function to move the entire structure to the origin: Edit > Operations > Move Structure to Origin. | |
| Added directional arrows to area load and pressure boxes in the graphics. Previously, no arrows were displayed, making load direction difficult to interpret. | |
| Member prestress loads and thermal loads now respond to click events in the graphics. |
| See changelog for Section Builder for the same day. | |
| Fix issue where plate holes were not being copied for Edit > Operations > Mirror. |
| Merge any two selected nodes regardless of their distance apart. You can do this from the right-click menu or selecting the nodes and then using "J" on your keyboard. Previously it was only possible to merge nodes that were close together. | |
| Resolved an issue where very small length non-prismatic members would be missing member station results. | |
| Resolved a rare issue where some models that were solving before v7.0.0 were throwing a Solver Error from v7.0.0-v7.0.3. |
| Added a button to download all load combination results in Output menu after solving. This will speed up switching between Load Combinations when viewing their results. | |
| When in model mode but results already exist, the solve button will now use the last analysis type rather than default to Linear Static Analysis. | |
| Fix some issues with new smart labels system released in v7.0.0. | |
| Fix some general issues with new graphics system released in v7.0.0. | |
| Fixed issue where the new one-way loads introduced in v7.0.0 would not run on the SkyCiv Desktop App. |
| Added an error message when one-way area loads have 0 loaded members. | |
| Fixed a bug for one-way area loads when members use the global axis for offsets. | |
| Fixed a bug that temporarily hid non-rectangular area load pressure boxes in the graphics when applying the area loads datasheet. | |
| Resolved an issue where the pressure boxes of local area loads could temporarily appear to be applied in the reverse direction after reversing the node IDs to change the load direction. The equivalent distributed loads were always generated with the correct direction, and the graphical display corrected itself after the next model update. | |
| Resolved an issue where the pressure boxes of local non-rectangular area loads could appear to be applied in the reverse direction. The equivalent distributed loads were always generated with the correct direction. | |
| Fixed issue with some incomplete screenshots that started in v7.0.0 due to the newer graphics system. |
| Fixed issue where the solver was not providing a warning for point loads, moment loads and distributed loads that used an invalid position (i.e. a position less than 0% or greater than 100% or start position greater than end position). The UI was always blocking this invalid input but it may have been possible to create invalid loads like this via import from another software, the API or the join member function. These types of invalid loads may have provided poor results from the solver. | |
| Fixed issue where the member join function would merge distributed loads and make position A larger than position B, which is considered invalid for the solver. | |
| Fixed issue with some incomplete thumbnails (file manager and analysis report title page) that started in v7.0.0 due to the newer graphics system. |
Improved One-Way area loads. The existing one way area load was renamed to "One-Way (Legacy)". The following improvements were made:
|
|
| Improved solver speed by 2.7x generally. However, the speed of response spectrum analysis was vastly improved, especially on models that seemed to get stuck solving. | |
| Improved speed of graphics for main renderer by 2x. This new renderer will be used automatically for larger models, otherwise the older main renderer will be used. | |
| Non-linear Spring Supports which allows you to define the stiffness diagram of the spring so that it's dependent on the node's reaction or displacement. | |
| Dynamic Frequency Solver now returns rotational mass participation results rather than just translational mass. | |
Improved Plate Section Cuts Tool:
|
|
| Traffic lines which can be used to generate influence lines in the results. This is the first step towards adding moving loads in a future release. | |
| View color-scaled result diagrams for member results in the 3D renderer. Previously only solid colored segments were possible. | |
| Search bar will now work in results mode. Also fixed some bugs and issues with the search bar generally. | |
| Optionally export the solver results when exporting to SkyCiv File (JSON). Upon import, the results will also be imported into the software rather than only the model. | |
| Raised solver element limit to 100,000 elements (members + meshed plates). Previously 50,000 members or 35,000 meshed plates was the limit. | |
| More aggressive truncating applied to solver result values to reduce output file size. | |
| No longer removing loads that existed on removed tension/compression members. The solver was previously removing these loads when the members were removed. | |
| Submitting a section within the builder will no longer leave the builder automatically. This makes it quicker to open the next section for editing. | |
| You can now isolate members in the 3D renderer results view by simply clicking them. Hold CTRL while clicking to isolate multiple members. | |
| Organized visibility settings into expandable/collapsible containers. | |
| Added "Offsets" related appearance settings to the visibility settings so you can quickly toggle offset visibility and offset guide links visibility. | |
| Added ability to manually define parameters for ASCE 7-16 spectral loads without relying on latitude/longitude location. This means it can be used outside of USA. | |
| Added feedback regarding supported and unsupported DXF entities when importing DXF files. | |
| Pressing delete key while a datasheet is open will now delete selected model items if no cells in the datasheet are highlighted. Previously, the delete key was only able to affect the datasheet when the datasheet was opened. | |
| Added filter by Node ID or Member ID for point loads and moments in the datasheet. | |
| Added filter by Member ID for distributed loads in the datasheet. | |
| Added filter by Plate ID for pressures in the datasheet. | |
| Added UI options to toggle member and plate shapes for dynamic frequency shape results. | |
| Repair model now checks if a member's torsional DOF is released on both ends. | |
| Added ability to view all nodal masses in the dynamic frequency results (rather than just the masses converted from static loads). | |
| Added a graphical indicator inside the area load to indicate one-way loading direction. | |
| Fixed some annoyances and bugs with the left input menu. | |
| Improved the supports left input menu by adding a simple button group to control whether the support is a node, line and surface support. | |
| The grouping function now allows to auto-group members by their type. | |
| Simplified the rigid link system used for inclined roller supports. | |
| Improved the display of results for inclined roller supports by drawing a single reaction for the inclined roller. | |
| Fixed issue where projected area loads were using the projected length of the generated distributed loads rather than the projected area. | |
| Show the projected magnitude in the graphics label for projected area loads, projected pressures and projected distributed loads. | |
| Fixed issue where repeat operation would not correctly duplicate area loads or correctly listen to the "Ignore selected loads" option. |

|
| Fixed major calculation error in the reported tension capacity Ndt per AS 1720.1—2010. The k1 factor had been incorrectly applied as 1 for all load combinations; it is now calculated correctly for each load combination. This affected the capacity and the utilization ratio shown in the detailed report. Note: the utilization ratio in the UI design results table was already correct and remains unchanged. |
| Eurocode 3 (EN 1993-1-1:2005) now supports multiple segments defined by Lcr for the Lateral Torsional Buckling check. The software calculates the C1 factor and the capacity for each segment. The C1 factor is calculated using the equation proposed by M.A. Serna et al. (2006) for lateral bending and warping free at both end supports. |
